A unique competition at the Bar des Maillets d’Argent

For the very first time, the Maillets d’Argent bar invites you on Wednesday 15 October to enjoy a unique experience: a Swiss-style chess tournament. Whether you are a seasoned player or a curious amateur, this tournament is an opportunity to share a memorable evening of passionate games and convivial moments in the cosy and warm atmosphere of the Maillets d’Argent bar.

The tournament will consist of seven rounds, offering each participant at least seven matches. The games, which will be 10-minute blitz games (five minutes per player), will be punctuated by short breaks of three to five minutes. In the event of a tie, a tiebreaker consisting of two blitz games will decide the winner. In order to introduce a touch of unpredictability and create unforgettable games, playful adjustments will be applied according to the Elo difference in each game: a slight time disadvantage, or even the anticipated loss of certain pieces, will upset the balance. Gilles Le Guennec, president of the INSEAD Chess Club of France, will ensure that the tournament runs smoothly and that the rules are applied, for a competition that is both fair and friendly
