The duck card, a memento of a great moment at la Tour

In 1890, Frédéric Delair, then maître d’hôtel and owner of La Tour d’Argent, formalised the ritual of the famous pressed duck and introduced the idea of numbering each duck served.

Ever since, this card, presented to our guests, has commemorated this unique gastronomic experience. Over the years, it has evolved, featuring photographs of the dining room, a portrait of Frédéric Delair, and later, original creations by illustrators.

The new duck card continues this tradition and has been created by illustrator Vincent Boudgourd, whose distinctive artistic vision brings a fresh perspective to this iconic piece of La Tour’s history.

Among these numbered cards are also those presented to famous personalities, brought together in the “Famous Ducks List”, making this collection a precious testament to the great moments in La Tour’s history. Princess Elisabeth, Grace Kelly, Jean-Paul Belmondo and, more recently, Brad Pitt are among them.

A unique tradition that lives on to this day, with every card telling its own story.
